Healthy gums -€“ healthy teeth

Healthy gums are an important condition for the life-long maintenance of your teeth. With our individual periodontal treatment, we help you with gum problems of all kinds quickly and reliably.

Periodontitis is an inflammation caused by bacteria which is expressed as mostly irreversible destruction of the periodontal apparatus. Certain species of bacterial reproduce uninhibited in the oral cavity, attacking the gums and ultimately the jaw bone.

The most common symptoms of a periodontal disease are inflammation of the gums, pain in the gums, bad breath, sensitive tooth necks in response to cold or warm foods, swollen gums, bleeding gums, gingival recession and gingival crevices which can acutely and repeatedly fill with pus. If one of these symptoms occurs, rapid action is needed, as if the inflammation of the gums reaches the jaw bone, there is a risk of tooth loss.
Periodontal treatment should therefore be started without delay.

One of the main causes of gum inflammation and periodontitis is genetic predisposition. We offer a periodontal risk test (DNS test) as part of our individual prophylaxis programme, the information from which indicated whether you have a genetic predisposition.
Further causes of inflammation of the gums include poor or incorrect oral hygiene, smoking, diabetes, pregnancy, breathing through the mouth, grinding the teeth as a result of stress, general immune deficiency and an unbalanced diet. Unfavourable localised piercings on the lip, lip frenulum or tongue may also cause periodontal diseases.

If periodontitis is identified in good time, it can be cured quickly with relatively simple treatment methods. Regular professional tooth cleaning at least every three months (four times a year) by our dental hygienist is a particularly important part of this. The aim of this is to gradually shrink the gingival crevices, thereby causing the inflammation to subside. Antibiotics and antibacterial mouthwashes can also be used to support this process.
If the periodontitis is already advanced, parts of the inflamed gingival crevices may have to be surgically removed. In most cases, however, no operation is necessary.
If the jaw bone has already be attacked, this can be rebuilt once the periodontal disease has ground to a halt.

In denture patients, periodontal pre-treatment must be carried out as a denture such as a tooth implant or a dental prosthesis can only be inserted if the gums are healthy.

Maintaining badly damaged teeth in the long term -€“ a root canal makes it possible

With a perfect root canal treatment, even teeth which are badly affected can be maintained in the long term. The latest technology and new, effective methods means that this is no longer a problem.

Deep rooted caries is mostly the cause of damage to a tooth. Through these, bacteria get inside the tooth causing an inflammation of the tissue until, after a while, the root tissue dies. Severe toothache often occurs too. A root canal treatment has to be carried out to ensure that the bacteria cannot subsequently attack the bone and cause dangerous complications.wurzelkanalbehandlung

Many patients fear root canal treatment. Thanks to modern treatment methods, patients no longer experience the pain that frequently occurred in the past. You will feel almost nothing of the root canal.

A root canal treatment is carried out in several steps. First, an access route to the inside of the tooth is created to get to the root canal. Bacteria and tissue which is diseased and already dead will be removed, and then the root canal will be filled in 1 or 2 sessions. The tooth is then sealed with a filling. In the case of larger-scale defects, it is mostly sensible to crown the tooth fully or partially.

The treatment quality is particularly important when it comes to whether your tooth can be maintained. Only with extensive technical knowledge, experience and the highest levels of precision is it possible to treat a tooth successfully. The occasionally complicated course of the root canal and the microscopic structures in the root canal, the utmost level of care combined with the latest technology is needed to ensure optimal treatment success.

Aesthetic, functional and precise -€“ highest quality dentures

No matter whether it's a bridge, prosthesis or a crown, we will custom make your new teeth using our modern capabilities. We will manufacture your new dentures individually for you in close collaboration with our practice's own master laboratory.

If you are missing one or several teeth, dentures enable the restoration of your ability to chew, facial aesthetics and production of speech. But what type of denture is the best solution? There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this, as every patient has to be considered individually. The solution must therefore also be individual. As specialists in the perfect dentures, we are familiar with all kinds of dentures and would be happy to advise you on the solution which is best for you.

zahnersatzCrowns/partial crowns

Substance defects in the natural tooth crown are mostly corrected using fillings. However, if these defects are too large, crowns are used for structural reasons. In the case of defects in which the tooth substance has been badly attacked, the crown is placed above the existing tooth substance like a thimble, completely covering the affected tooth.
If the affected tooth does not need to be fully covered but only partially covered, a partial crown is used. Partial crowns stabilise and protect the remainder of the tooth substance.

Bridges

Where teeth are missing completely, bridges are used to fill the gap in the row of teeth. They are attached to the adjacent teeth, ground down and crowned to ensure that the denture can be anchored securely.
Tooth implants are a recommended alternative to conventional bridges.

Dental prosthesis/partial prosthesis

If several teeth are missing, a partial prosthesis can be used as a partial denture. Partial prostheses can be designed to be removable, but can also be attached like a bridge. Alternatively, tooth implants onto which the partial prosthesis can be attached are also recommended.
A total prosthesis is the best option if a whole row of teeth are missing or in the case of entirely toothless jaws. Like partial prostheses, total prostheses can be made to be removable or alternatively fixed in with implants.

However, defective or missing teeth are not only a functional or aesthetic problem, they can also have unforeseen consequences for your health. The smallest changes in the teeth can cause back pain, migraines, tinnitus and tension in the neck and muscles. Poorly fitting or imprecisely manufactured dentures can also cause a range of health problems.
For this reason, we don't have our dentures made in a far away dental laboratory, as long distances prevent high quality, individually adjusted precision work from being carried out. In our practice, dentists and master dental technicians work closely together to ensure an exact precision fit, durability and optimal aesthetics.
In addition to this, you can be involved in the completion of your new teeth and of course your personal desires can be included.
In this way, we will develop the perfect dentures for you that people won't be able to tell apart from your real teeth.

Your own teeth are still the best solution

That's why here in our practice we place particular emphasis on prophylaxis and tooth maintenance therapies.

Tooth maintenance starts with preventative measures. In addition to this, through our dental hygienist we offer you an individual prophylaxis programme tailored to you to prevent caries and gum diseases.
If your tooth is already damaged, our goal is to treat you as early as possible to ensure there is as little damage as possible.
We focus in particular on maintaining the existing tooth substance and conserving the gums. We use exclusively the latest filling materials and preparation methods to restore the tooth, as this is the only way to ensure the highest quality treatment result.

A further treatment option which can be used to maintain your tooth even in complex situations is a root canal treatment.  Here too we exploit all of the modern endodontic treatment options to maintain particularly endangered teeth in the long term.
